Hi Gents,

for those who have not been tracking eve development over the last few years (I was doing so before I started playing eve, and this was one of the reasons I started playing eve) take a look at the following web page which seems to have been tracking eve developemnt from 2007 to 2008.

http://evesmugglers.com/node

Planetry landing:

http://www.eveonline.com/devblog.asp?a=blog&bid=379

"We were also teased with...
FPS planet-side.
Not much was said, but CCP showed a quick trailer of planetary FPS combat, complete with what looked like maybe a brutix just a few km above the top of a mountain range getting smacked by maybe planetary fire, all from the perspective of a grunt on the ground.
* SghnDubh drooled a little."

Heres a video from a CCP Fan Fest (in 2006) showing a Caldari Interceptor (Raptor?) Engaging Angel ships in low planety orbit then going to the planets suface:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Pg1dzAvL2M

One thing I have noticed watching these brilliant movies is that the explosions used to be slightly more impressive with larger tangible particle effects and the ships chassis seemingly disolving or imploding under the power of the explosions.
I wish they would also bring back the trails or tails that the engines used to emit and the old Jump Drive effects (before they went buggy and the tail of the wormhole used to fly arround in a circle).
Another good old video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQ4e-lXh ... re=related

Also found some interesting information about CCP introduing more modula design to all ships. Either that or modular damage.

CCP mention of inhabiting asteroids in this video (towards the end): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z8KD1z3XBkU

I cannot for the life of me find that video which has a Bruitix flying over a planets suface from a ground point of view. Bah!

To be the cynic...CCP have been stating the whole ambulation for about 5 years now, so I'm not going to hold my breathe about seeing it soon.
Not sure how the FPS will work out with EvE. There is a great chance that EvE will completely mess-over PC gamers for the larger console gamers (just due to costs and ease of use).

I'd not mind living in an ansteroid. Use that mining barge to build big stations!

Since there removal from Apocrypha and after two and a half years of playing eve with the old dynamic engine trails`

I still canFt get used to seeing ships that now seam to float in space without speed effects and dynamic engine trails anymore, with no other way of telling there moving without anything inert to compare them to or having the velocity set in the overview columns..

And surely some of you feel the same? Missing the tzoomv factor they added to your interceptors` Or the nice little pixelated lines your drones and fighters left behind as they orbited stuff and zipped around space?

So if any of the developers have glanced over this post, an acknowledgment would be nice`

CCP t0rfifrans

"Acknowledged, we miss them too. We had to take out the old ones, as they were performance hogs, didn't jive with our new and improved rendering code and sometimes looked silly. We will certainly put in new ones, can't promise you when. It's on the list of things to do for the graphics programmers, but there's actually quite a lot of stuff on that list. If you are a graphics programmer and want this fixed, simply apply for a position at CCP, we are looking for graphics programmers amongst other things..."
